Richard John “Dick” Filosa, 85 of Centerville, formerly of Needham, passed away peacefully on February 16,2026.

Born on June 24,1940 in Waltham, MA, son of the late Alfred and Stella Filosa. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (Cain) Filosa, their daughter Marsha (Filosa) Socci and her husband Michael and their children Ali and Anthony of Franklin, MA. Son Michael Filosa and his son Michael (“Mikey”) Filosa of Centerville, MA. Daughter in law Christine (Marchand) Filosa of Swansea, MA. Siblings Robert Filosa and wife Joan, the late Paul Filosa and his wife Sharon, and sisters Patricia Filosa and Donna Filosa.

Dick attended Newton High School graduating in 1958 and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Business from Northeastern University. He proudly served in the Army Reserves and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Osterville Men’s Club. Dick was exceedingly proud of his family.  He loved attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, and spending time with his family on weekends. He enjoyed bowling, times on the beach with family and neighbors, as well as spending time with his grand dogs Buck, Alphie, Brie and the late Snoopy and Mojo.  His true passion, however, was spending time, particularly annual cruises and Caribbean vacations, with his best friend and beloved wife Carol.

Dick made a habit of learning everything he could about the people he would meet, making everyone he met feel important.  Later, he would always recount stories about people he had met, regardless of how briefly, always referring to them as “my friend”.  Dick will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him as the nicest person around.

Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Tuesday, February 24rd from 4-7pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph Church, 1360 Highland Ave, Needham, on Wednesday, February 25th at 10am. Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
